Hip hop movements: celebrating a milestone with equipto

Equipto, born Ilyich Sato, is a pivotal figure in hip-hop culture and a prominent activist, representing San Francisco. We are fortunate to have him rocking with us in Modesto for the 25th Anniversary of his classic solo debut album, Vintage Volume Won.

Since the 90s, Equipto has been making waves in the music scene, starting out with the underground group Bored Stiff. He’s shared the stage with the late Mac Dre and had a close friendship with the late Baba Zumbi of Zion-I. Legendary rapper San Quinn even acknowledges Equipto for teaching him how to count rap bars effectively.

Equipto and Bored Stiff have been coming out to Modesto to play shows for well over 20 years. His involvement in the city highlights his strong connection with the next generation of artists. For this show he has collaborated with our friend DJ True Spokes to organize this event.
