Poetry Slam Camp
Poetry Slam Camp is an exciting, transformative program dedicated to empowering young poets on their spoken word journey.
Hosted inside Intermission, the State Theatre's gorgeous new community space, and led by MJC professor of English and former poet laureate, Sam Pierstorff, alongside distinguished guest poets, Slam Camp is a beacon of creative expression and personal growth. Designed to instill confidence and hone performance skills, participants will be immersed in the art of crafting and delivering powerful poetry.
Through immersive workshops and personalized mentorship, Poetry Slam Camp fosters a vibrant community where young writers can explore the nuances of storytelling through verse. With a focus on building rhythmic prowess, vivid imagery, and emotional resonance, slam campers will develop the tools to articulate their life experiences with clarity and passion.
Poetry Slam Camp enables aspiring writers to discover the transformative power of spoken word, culminating in electrifying youth poetry performances that celebrate creativity and cultural diversity.
Our goal is simple: to nurture the next generation of storytellers, fostering a community where every voice is heard and honored.
